Download SplatSmith Studio
Windows 10/11 · 64-bit · Beta
SplatSmith Studio turns video or photos of a real space into an interactive 3D scene you can walk through, share as a web tour or cut into a clip. Everything — reconstruction, training, editing and export — runs on your own computer; nothing is uploaded to us.

Check the download before you run it
SplatSmith Studio is not code-signed — we do not currently hold a signing certificate. The SHA256 checksum above takes its place: it is a fingerprint of the exact file we published. If your copy produces the same fingerprint, it arrived unmodified. Open a Command Prompt in your Downloads folder and run:
certutil -hashfile [PLACEHOLDER: installer file name] SHA256
Compare the line it prints with the checksum in the table above (upper- or lower-case does not matter, spaces do not either). If the two differ, delete the file and download it again rather than running it.
What Windows will say when you start the installer
Because the installer is unsigned, Windows SmartScreen shows a blue box reading „Windows protected your PC“. This is not a virus finding and it does not mean anything was detected in the file. SmartScreen warns about every application it has not seen often enough before, and a brand-new beta from a small company is exactly that.
To continue:
- Click More info in the warning box.
- Check that the publisher line reads Unknown publisher and the file name matches the one in the table above.
- Click Run anyway.
If you would rather not take our word for it, verify the checksum first (see above) or upload the installer to a multi-scanner service such as VirusTotal before running it. The warning will disappear once we ship signed builds.
What you need
The honest numbers, not the marketing ones:
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit. No macOS or Linux build yet. |
| Graphics card | An NVIDIA GPU with CUDA support. 8 GB of video memory is the realistic floor for small scenes; 12 GB or more if you want to process rooms and venues at full resolution. Laptop GPUs work but run considerably slower. Machines without a dedicated NVIDIA card cannot train scenes. |
| Memory | 16 GB RAM minimum, 32 GB recommended. |
| Disk space | Plan for a lot. A single reconstruction — extracted frames, camera data, intermediate point clouds, the trained scene — takes a double-digit number of gigabytes. 100 GB of free space is a comfortable starting point, and an SSD makes a noticeable difference. |
| Time | Processing a capture is measured in hours, not minutes. A short clip of a small room can be done in about an hour on a fast card; a full venue scan can occupy your machine for an evening. You can keep working meanwhile, but the GPU will be busy. |
You do not have to install anything else
SplatSmith Studio uses three open-source tools under the hood — COLMAP (camera reconstruction), Brush (Gaussian-splat training) and ffmpeg (video handling). You do not need to hunt them down, install them or configure any paths. On first start, the app offers to fetch them for you, shows the download progress and tells you where they were placed. They are not bundled with the installer, which keeps the download small and lets us update the tools independently of the app.
The first start therefore needs an internet connection. Everything after that — every capture, every reconstruction, every export — runs offline on your machine.
How to get a beta key
The app runs without a key — you can look around, open the sample scene and try the editor. Processing your own captures (reconstruction, training, export) is unlocked by a beta key, and during the beta we hand those out by hand so we can stay in touch with the people using it.
- Join the waitlist, or write to order@staffsmith.eu with the subject „SplatSmith Studio beta key“.
- Tell us roughly what you want to capture (a venue, a room, an event stage) and which graphics card you have — that is how we judge whether the beta will actually work for you.
- You receive the key by email. In the app, paste it into the beta-key banner at the top of the window; the processing features unlock immediately.
We answer by hand, so please allow a few working days. There is no automatic key issuing during the beta, and no payment is involved.
What’s new
[PLACEHOLDER] Release notes appear here with the first published build. For each
release, add a short list below — a handful of plain sentences about what
changed, newest release first — and keep the wording identical to the
notes line in updates/latest.json, which is what the
in-app update notice shows.
Licence
Using the beta means accepting the SplatSmith Studio beta licence agreement. In short: the beta is free to use during the beta period, it is provided for evaluation and may still contain defects, your captures and projects remain entirely yours, and the app does not send your data anywhere. The agreement is written in German, is shown in full during installation before you accept it, and is installed alongside the application so you can read it again later.
To be straight with you: the current wording is a draft that has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer, so treat the summary above as our intent rather than as settled legal text. A reviewed version will be published here, and whatever is shown to you in the installer at the time you accept it is the version that applies.
The open-source components used by SplatSmith and by this website are listed on the licences page.
